#1 Moles that Progresses Suddenly
Any mole that has an odd shape or changes shape, starts to bleed, gets bigger, or changes color needs to be seen by a doctor and when that happens on your foot a podiatrist is the best doctor to see. Many moles are benign and not a threat to your health at all. However, these changes can also be signs of melanoma. You podiatrist will have a look at the mole and he or she is concerned they may refer you to a dermatologist for further evaluation.
#2 A Deformity That Suddenly Changes
This can happen for a number of reasons, but one of the most common is the result of Charcot arthropathy. Charcot can occur when you suffer from diabetes. Symptoms to watch for include hot and red, painful, and a foot that is swollen. Charcot can cause you to break a bone, or the bone might slip out of place. If you leave this untreated, the bones can heal in the wrong position.
#3 Lumps and Bumps That Hurt or Grow
If you have a lump or bump that changes and becomes painful, you should see a podiatrist. It could be a cyst, but it also could be a tumor, which is more serious. Tumors are rare, but they do occur so you need to make sure that it’s not serious.
